This is something we never see in New Zealand although there are places which could probably use something like salt during the winter months. What fascinates me though as well as the rust problems, is what effect does this have on your waterways when the thaw happens?

I feel for you guys in the USA, having to hibernate your cars in the winter , as we drive all year round.....the worst we have to contend with here is following a cattle truck and having cows piss all over us.

Often times we get so much snow that salt is not of any value. Twice last year I awoke at the cottage to see 60 cm of snow on the ground over night and it still snowing. Add 50 mph winds and it makes travel nearly impossible. Wayne

We yanks are very environment conscience people, we use only the best 100%, authentic, 'biodegradable'.....salt!!!!! We are bottling the 'acid'-rain too....it's a hot item in Walmart.

I read once your King Browns like to crawl up inside the bonnet to keep warm in your winters. If that's true, I'd rather put up with the salt. Hate snakes, had enough of those in SE Asia.

I would much rather have to remove a snake every day than deal with salt AND mice... Ive thought about capturing a snake and leaving it in the garage for a week to see if theres anything left to catch...Then letting it free again after a few meals.

this is why every model A owner needs a "beater" to tool around with in the winter...........

a good reason to buy an "extra" car

remember, you're not going to take your A with you when you go to the eternal sky.

Just in the last couple of weeks, it got cold enough that all the field mice are heading indoors. No snakes here to keep them at bay.
