Steering Box Rebuild
I swear someone posted this info here before.....anyone have a recommendation on a good place to send my 55 Ford steering box for a rebuild? Thanks!!

I send one to Lares years ago. The rebuild process may have been okay but after I had installed and filled the box with 90wt oil, I found that the box was leaking profusely from a crack at the base of the center tube where it meets with the lower bearing plate. I had to tear it all down again and weld that tube.
Be very careful not to bend this tube during removal or installation. Inspect that area carefully for cracking. |
