Re: red liquid fuel gauge?
I’ve bought from them several years ago but when I checked this year, I couldn’t find it on their site which was easily located when I bought it before.

Re: red liquid fuel gauge?
The original Ford red fluid has come up on Ebay now and again and it is the same fluid that is used in the Temperature gauge. I wonder if the gauge would still work if you fitted a little red ball.

'I wonder if the gauge would still work if you fitted a little red ball'
in order for the liquid in the sightglass to show true level in gastank, it MUST have a sg of 2.95

Re: red liquid fuel gauge?
Good idea Brian. A small glass bead would work, not sure about plastics.

Are you suggesting an exact diameter? Obviously; correct? Would you update your findings, please? Thank you in advance -highbeams |

Re: red liquid fuel gauge?
The ball wasn't my idea, I was simply responding to Ian's post #22

Do you have a '33 glass fuel tube handy out of a car to measure the inside diameter? Thank you - highbeams |

"Do you know the inside diameter of the glass fuel gauge?"
I just measured the ID on an old broken gauge I have and then checked it with a drill bit. ID is 9/64" Glenn |

Re: red liquid fuel gauge?
I would use a bead of 1/8" OD.
This is just an example since I doubt the Coral would withstand the acid. https://www.michaels.com/bead-galler.../10120972.html Last edited by glennpm; 09-18-2021 at 06:37 PM. Reason: Make clear that I’m not suggesting that coral is appropriate |

I was under the impression that the ball to be used, as opposed to the 'red'; re your comment "I doubt the coral would withstand the acid." Thank you, Sir. highbeams. *** Last edited by highbeams; 09-19-2021 at 02:03 PM. |

Sincerely appreciated. So, hopefully, the hydrastatic pressure will coincide w/the fuel level in the tank and push the 9/64" glass ball to the accurate position. THAT WOULD BE SPLENDID! As opposed to diddling with the 'red'. Correct me if I am misunderstanding. I've been known to uh, misunderstand, particularly with a honeydo. https://thefractioncalculator.com/ 2:04 PM Pat Malone Last edited by highbeams; 09-19-2021 at 04:17 PM. |

Re: red liquid fuel gauge?
What's the specific gravity of glass? I hope it's less than 2.95 or else it will sink to the bottom of the gauge.

Re: red liquid fuel gauge?
Yes, good question and I checked it the other day.
Glass beads 2.5 SG https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/s...als-d_293.html |

Re: red liquid fuel gauge?
It would be easy to test the ball just put it into some of that fluid in a phial and see if it sinks.
