New '40 Ford Book soon to be available
News Flash! Just saw this on the V8 Club's forum, posted by the Club's web administrator:
"But we do have good news! The long awaited printing of the new 1940 Ford Book is in the works. We can not say enough about the work that Michael Kubarth has done. Thank you Michael!! The book should be available sometime in late January." |

Re: New '40 Ford Book soon to be available
In addition to Michael's comment, innumerable hours go into the development of these books and it's all done by volunteers. Also many of these authors visit this site and the Early Ford V-8 Club website and continue to offer their help. You cannot attach a dollar amount to the the time they have spent to help us and the old Ford hobby. Kudos to all of them.
PS, since I'm only about 5 blocks from the supply source of the V-8 books, I'll have my hot little hands on Kube's book as soon as they arrive! Last edited by TJ; 12-19-2020 at 04:41 PM. |

Re: New '40 Ford Book soon to be available
Great news!! I suspect reading through the book will be like parking your 40 next to his!! Let me also thank Mike for this herculian task he completed. This has been needed for a very long time as the first version was superficial but at least someone got that ball rolling. I look forward to getting a copy.

Re: New '40 Ford Book soon to be available
Guys, thanks for the kind words and understanding. When I took this project on, well, in retrospect, I had near zero comprehension of what an enormous task it would be.
I am NOT complaining at all. In fact, although a huge undertaking, it has been personally very rewarding. The amount of "new" information I'd uncovered was at times both fascinating and humbling. My intent from day number one was to give the "40 guy" a place wherein all of his questions as to what was intended to be built could be found in one place. Hopefully you guys will enjoy this endeavor and more so, hopefully it will make your restoration project go a bit smoother.

Does the book cover pickup trucks?

Re: New '40 Ford Book soon to be available
The book focuses on domestic passenger cars.
There is of course a large "overlap" with pickup trucks / passenger cars. As such, I believe this book would be quite helpful in that (overlap) scenario.

Re: New '40 Ford Book soon to be available
Mike: It's wonderful that you devoted much of your life to the old car hobby with hands on knowledge and experience along with extensive, documented authenticity AND then took the time to writing a book that allows others in the present and future to learn about 40 Ford restoration and history. Thankfully, you have preserved both history and hands on knowledge for future generations. That indeed shows that: "The good that we do is passed on for others to enjoy". Well done Mr. Kubarth. Thanks for sharing the "treasure" of your skill and knowledge."

Re: New '40 Ford Book soon to be available
Lets also recognize the extensive work by Don Rogers, with each of the V8 Club book authors, to prepare each book for the publisher. Each author can speak to the value of the input from Don. Don also provides researched and detailed answers to questions on this Forum.

I have bought all the V8 club books and I only own 32,33 and 40 cars. So much good info to fall back on when you go "I wonder......?".

Re: New '40 Ford Book soon to be available
Jon,
Thank you for citing Don Rogers's role beyond his own book (the '35-'36 version) and his frequent and extremely well-informed responses herein. He was a true partner to me in the creation of the '32 book and he has played a key role in bringing Mike's '40 book to completion. And then there's his role with the forthcoming '49-'51 Mercury book which likely would never see the light of day without his efforts. And those are but a fraction of his contributions to the hobby. Thanks, Don. Last edited by DavidG; 12-21-2020 at 01:48 PM. Reason: word changes |

Re: New '40 Ford Book soon to be available
Ah, part of the reason it took me so long to complete this project is life getting in the way.
Things like running businesses, restoring cars and taking care of ten horses wears a fella out at times. Among a bunch of other stuff, I spread nearly twelve tons of stone today. That got me to about 2PM. Then the real work started. Life IS good but busy. I truly hope you guys enjoy the book and find it useful. As long as Don Rogers name got brought up, yes, I will add my .02¢. Don is a fairly private man, working quietly behind the scenes so until he was mentioned, I was apprehensive to do so. Regardless, without his help, there's little doubt this book would be a year out still. Don is a good man, always willing to help and KNOWS his craft. I can't thank the gentleman enough. Lord knows, I WILL try, yes, I will try

Thank you just doesn't seem sufficient. Even beyond the books, the help and dedication to sharing the incredible wealth of knowledge is more than thanks can portray!!! SO to DavidG, Kube, DonR, 35FordTn, DeuceLover, GM, Bubba's, VanPelt, Karl (Brookville) and ALL who make us better owners, restorer's and keepers of the hobby, your legacy will live on and is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks to those who contributed to this new Restoration Book on the 1940 Fords. The Cover looks great. A worthwhile addition to any Early Ford V8 Enthusiasts Library. |

BRAVO on the new '40 book. Very much needed......the old '40 booklet was pretty much useless, at least for me.
