Default Re: quail radiator cap

the caps fit to the 28-29's with a threaded base, same as the gas cap. They fit the 30-31's with the spade base, same as those caps. They're also available as locking caps to deter theft. The 28/29's are threaded with a lock screw and the top is turned counter clockwise and flips open and closes with a short, clockwise turn . The 30/31's have two brass tabs that screw tight to the radiator neck using allan screws. The top part of those caps opens with a short counter clockwise turn and flips up, closing in the opposite manner. My experience with the thermo quails is that their accuracy varies so much that they can only be relied upon as a "sort of" indicator. As near as I know, they are all made by Vintique, and all dealers are selling the same product.

I have found that the rectal quail thermometer to be of no use and I now run my quail radiator cap without it. If it doesn't work, then why have it? I really do like the quail though.
