Default 59a heads on an 8ba block?

What does it take to use 59a Edelbrock heads on a late block? What modifications? Gaskets? etc.

Hello. I believe the water transfer holes at the front of the deck face need blocking off and that is it. I would also think the 59 type gaskets will be best as they follow the shape of the head.
Never done it myself, that's just what I think you have to do.
Mart.

I have done it a couple times with no problems. Used 59 AB gaskets and plugged a couple small holes in the 8BA block and everything worked fine.

Forgot, I got my information from the book How To Build A Flathead by Frank Oddo.

This will help.

Be sure that whatever you use to plug the holes is flush with the top of the block.

Works just fine, I never use studs, pain in the but. Torque to 45 ft lbs thru 3 heat cycles, or till you don't feel any more movement. Also use hardened washers under the bolts, or nuts.
