Default Wratchet nuts

I am working on a 28. I bought a wratchet removal wrench 1 3/8" but it's too big. Appears to be 1 5/16" and I can't get any kind of wrench or socket on it to tighten it while in the car.
Suggestions would be helpful.
Would you purchase a socket, shorter. It and build one similar to the one I have?

The way I did mine was to fit the socket on the ratchet nut and then run an extension through the crank hole to the wrench. Do you not have room to do that?

Use the crank to tighten it.
FWIW, the one on my '31 CCPU is 1-1/4"
