Body bolt diameter?
All - I'm building a rolling dolly to mount my Town Sedan body on after I remove it from the frame. I plan to use the existing body bolt holes to fasten the body to the dolly, but what is the diameter of the body bolts? I don't have the car handy to me to take a look. I realize I'll need to remove the carriage bolts that currently fasten the wood main rails to the frame and install standard threaded hex-head bolts to fasten to the dolly, but what diameter? My recollection is that they're probably around 5/16" or 3/8" diameter. I looked in the catalogs and I don't find a diameter, just a pre-assembled body bolt set.
Thanks in advance. JayJay

Re: Body bolt diameter?
using UGLY`s drawing, #`s 12&3 are 3/8 the rest of the bolts to the frame are 7/16

#1 I think is the hood stop, and #s 2&3 are the hood latches (aren't there also some pads for hood latches not shown towards the front?). The rest are the bolts that go from body to frame. Looks like 7/16" is the winner. I think I'll tap my dolly for 3/8" and use those to bolt the body to the dolly, that gives a bit of wiggle room within the holes. Thanks again, folks. JayJay

#1 is at the front of the cowl and #2 & #3 are at the rear of the cowl. Is the diagram posted correct for your Sedan? |

Re: Body bolt diameter?
the diagram came from Les Andrews red book.
if you want specific then the book shows all the models and the related mountings. i just pick one as these bolts will be the same.

Re: Body bolt diameter?
For just bolting the body to the dolly, does the hole size really matter, As long as they're big enough?
