Default Gunmetal Blue and Dawn Grey Paint Scheme?

All:

Choosing out what color scheme I want to use on my E28 Australian-built Phaeton when I finally get around to restoring her.

I found a reference of a Gunmetal Blue with belt and moulding in Dawn Grey and a Straw pinstripe.

Has anyone seen this color combo before? Or, better yet, does anyone have photos of what it looks like?

Thanks for your time!

Dave

Was it Gunmetal, or Gunmetal Blue? Be careful with your choice. I am not so sure that they are all the same... Just sayin', cause once it's on it's on.

Are you painting your car Australian colours, or USA colours. Some Australian colour schemes had coloured mudguards and coloured wheels. Some colour schemes even had pinstriping on the edges of the bonnet louvres.

Great feedback! Brent - that's pretty much what I had in mind. Might just send my car your way when it's ready!

If your car is an Australian assembled model it would be worthwhile contacting your state club as there were differences to our colours. A copy of the Australian Judging Standards would also be helpul,

I'd actually love to find some Australia-specific 1928 colors, but I've yet to do so. 1929, yes. 1928, no. If I had a 1929, I'd definitely go for the Ivanhoe Green/Abyss Green combination, just to have a "one off" (at least for here) but official color scheme.

We've been having a long discussion about colors in the below thread. Still don't have solid answers yet...

That demonstrator roadster looks like it could be the elusive Pelican Grey.

Brent, nice of you to share the photographs. My original thought was I wouldn't like this paint scheme. I soon changed my mind when I saw these two cars you showed us. Both cars are not only beautiful, they show your wonderful skills with body and paint work! Seems the Model "A" future is in good hands when I see cars like these coming from energetic and talented people as you. Great work!

P.S. Brent, I received photographs from Larry Dreeg showing rad shells you had at a recent sale. Would you be so kind to email me regarding one for fine point judging? Thanks.

It definitely looks brighter than the colors available per the newspaper. Just wish we could figure out what it is!
