Default Niagara/Duchess Blue -Alice Blue ?

Yesterday I took my '28 Phaeton out to a Senior Care Facility to help enrichen the lives of some of the 'Older Folks', by giving them a drive around Victorian Eureka in the back of my Phaeton.

There, while driving a few of the older (92 & 96) women around in the Phaeton, one of them remarked what a pretty color my car was. She then asked if the color was 'Alice Blue'.

I said, "No, It is Niagara Blue & Duchess Blue". "Well", she said, "It looks very much like 'Alice Blue' - a very popular color around 1920-'30. Are you sure it is not 'Alice Blue'?".

So - does anyone out here know about 'Alice Blue' ?

Doug,

The early 28 Phaeton I use to own had 58, 000 original miles on it; the color was Niagara Blue Dark body, Duchess Blue belt, and French Gray stripe.
My mother lived until she was 103, she never ever mentioned "Alice Blue" to the best of my memory, she went for rides in the Phaeton many times.

Wikipedia comes through again :

"Alice blue is a pale tint of azure that was favored by Alice Roosevelt Longworth, daughter of Theodore Roosevelt, which sparked a fashion sensation in the United States.

The hit song "Alice Blue Gown", inspired by Longworth's signature gown, premiered in Harry Tierney's 1919 Broadway musical Irene. The musical was made into a film in 1940 starring Anna Neagle and Ray Milland.

The color is specified by the United States Navy for use in insignia and trim on vessels named for Theodore Roosevelt.[citation needed] "AliceBlue" is also one of the original 1987 X11 color names which became the basis for color description in web authoring.

This particular shade of blue is also referred as white-blue (or blue-white) and ice/icy blue, due to its very pale coloration which includes a hint of green— as does actual ice."
