Default quick help on fuel pump?

OK..finally back up working on the 32 4 banger. I have a fuel pump from a reputable rebuilder... I can put a little pressure in the tank and get gas through the fuel line so I know the line is clear.... Not getting gas to the carb. If I take the line to the carb off and turn it over no gas out the line.... any stupid stuff I could have done wrong putting the pump in? The lines are on right, i checked against the 32 book.

If the pump works in your hand, when the lever is pressed in & out it should work on the motor......IF.... the line is secure from the tank to the pump....AND.... the lobe on the cam is good. Try running a line into a secure gas can and with the ignition off & the spark plugs out ....spin the motor with the starter and see if the pump pulls fuel from the tank into the gas can. If it does, hook it back up & try the engine again. A little starting fluid works wonders too.

try taking a shop vaccum with duct tape on the end of the hose, turn it to suck, and just vaccum the fuel up to the line. it worked for mine.

A shop vacuum is very dangerous sucking gasoline---all the "air" it sucks goes by the sparking brushes.

I took it off. I think I had not compressed the lever putting it in so that the part in the motor was not engaging the lever. Works now.
