Arrow Could these 6v LEDs be used as tail lights?

Could these 6v LEDs be used as tail lights instead of turn signals? They are being sold by the suppliers as turn signals as they have a pre-loaded resistor built in so it will work with a thermal flasher.

I don't see why not.

led lights are polarity sensitive may not work with positive ground system

They will work for taillights provided the polarity is right for your car, as Bill says. The built in resistor draws the same current as a filament bulb, so no energy savings, just extra heat. But LEDs last a long time.

Second thought - the extra heat may cause a problem if the resistor is inside the housing. They're not intended for continuous duty.

Polarity I think is no issue with these as they are made for As and sold by all the suppliers.

The resistor is inside the housing apparently, so I guess no deal with these as tail lights.

I use the X arc Duo Led lights.

They are not the cheapest around but work brilliantly on the rear. Have them tucked up under the body on each side, so not readily visible.

The yellow gives a bright turn signal. Then you also have the full red for stop, and dimmer red for tail. I have both red leds through an additional switches under the rear seat. That way I can turn the additional stop and/or tail lights on if I want additional rear lights, such as when out on the highway or driving at night.

The combination of turn signal and additional stop and tail lights in one neat package is hard to beat. I run 12v so not a problem.
