Help getting MC off
Hi all,
I have one bolt left to get the MC off and of course the caged nut has broken off. I have tried vice grips but once I turn it, it pops off. Any other ideas? I did soak it it in kroil. Mike

Re: Help getting MC off
That usually means that the bolt is "welded " to the nut via heavy rust. If you can heat it up you may be able to get the bolt to turn. Or grind down the bolt head.

Re: Help getting MC off
Paul, Like many other things on this car, the bolt head will probably be cut off. Then a replacement bolt used.

Re: Help getting MC off
Yes. I think the cage is broken so the whole nut turns.

Re: Help getting MC off
Try and try again with the vice grips. I hope you will get it. Just try and turn the bolt a smidge one way and the other. Be patient . JMHO

Re: Help getting MC off
Got it off finally, had to use my needle nose VG’s. Looked inside and just ordered a a rebuilt one. This one probably just needs a good boiling out or sonic cleaning. Then it can be rebuilt.
