Re: Nu-rex Timing wrench
Thanks for the clarification. I am a little OCD on details. If there is a 50/50 chance of getting something right, I am wrong 80% of the time. LOL. Looks like a great tool, thanks for sharing.

Re: Nu-rex Timing wrench
I find it very easy to use and it seems accurate to me. Plus the cost is minimal.

It is OK for a quick fix. But you may need to "fine tune" the timing a bit after using it.

Re: Nu-rex Timing wrench
Back in my youth I dreamed up a band to go around the distributor cam and took my drawing to a tool maker all hot to get a patent on this "invention" of mine. He looked at it carefully, then pulled out a catalog of tools and asked me how many I wished to order. Gone were my thoughts of having invented the new distributor setting tool that the world needed so badly.

Altho I do have a Nu-Rex wrench IMO Tom's method is just as 'accurate' for checking the timing. But as someone mentioned your still need the wrench to set the timing. Both methods work best if the points are set at .020" beforehand. Personally I use a timing light. Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 06-01-2019 at 11:36 AM. |

Re: Nu-rex Timing wrench
Nu-Rex and fords method are about the same accurate. If you use either then check with a timing light you will be disappointed. Splitting hairs is not necessary. Fords method worked for millions of "A" for years. Don't reinvent the wheel.
