i'm still working on my speedster project ( 1 1/2 years far) i'm missing the engine splash pans. someone told me there were plans on making them yourself in one of the a magazines,(marc?) but didn't know what issue. i know i am a cheapskate and a glutton for punishment, but i like making things for myself if i can. i am keeping my eyes open for an original set in the mean time.

another question... i know float-a motor allows some movement of the engine. is this not going to shorten the life of the mounting tabs of the pans?

AZ Model A's has both originals and repros. May want to give Sam a call (480) 782-0266.

Plans were in the March-April 1966 Restorer.

The stock engine mounts also allow some movement. The Float-A-Motor mounts can be tightened up if you are worried about it but then you are defeating the cushioning. Lots of owners stick with the original engine mounts because they feel the engine then becomes another frame member. If you use the original mounts, replace the rubber sheets.

The Float-A-Motor Engine Mounts include a front engine mount, rear engine mounts and a transmission vertical motion limiter. Many Model A'ers just install the Float-A-Motor rear engine mounts which defeats the Float-A-Motor system. In the Float-A-Motor system, the front engine mount is structurally very important.

If the front mount is so important, why are they sold separately and not part of the kit sold by snyders?
