Spring protect
Guten Abend!
I want to protect my new front spring from dirt. I don't like the plastic protective bags offered for this. So I'm considering wrapping around 5 " of thin leather around the spring package. Who has already done this and can report success / or failure? Any tips?

Re: Spring protect
I use the vinyl covers from the vendors. They have a felt inner liner that I soaked with Kroil penophite and graphite.

Re: Spring protect
I've used the vinyl gaiters ever since they became available years ago. It is hard to judge Model "A" spring performance but with the the gaiters you won't hear any squeaks out of them. And you won't have to use that leaf spreader tool any more that you once exhibited LOL

Re: Spring protect
I use the spring covers from the vendors also. They are hardly noticable and look much better than rusty leaf springs. I have been using the same set for ~7 years now.
I have removed them in that time period to check and relube the felt. Might be hard to do that if they were wrapped. It's been awhile since I have seen three legged jack stands... Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 07-10-2021 at 09:58 AM. Reason: Verbage |

Re: Spring protect
The covers offered by the venders are a very good reproduction of the spring covers offered as a dealer installed accessory. They work very well to keep the springs clean and lubricated. They are not all that expensive and are easy to install and look correct for the car.
I have them on the car I use for touring. Chris W. |

Re: Spring protect
Unfortunately, from here it looks a lot nastier: Brattons only gets $ 44.95. To be added Freight $ 64 + handling fee € 12.50 + customs clearance (also for freight!) +/- € 45 = all in all € 162.50!
