Default 8BA truck oil pan woes

I was cleaning up an 8BA truck oil pan for a new build last week and noticed something interesting. I noticed a burnt oil spot up near the front, either from the front main bearing or from the exhaust crossover pipe. I started cleaning it, and then noticed what looks like a crack in the bottom of the pain, all the way from the front seal groove to the front of the cleanout ring. No idea how or why a crack like that would form.

So, I moved on to another core oil pan to restore. This one is in good shape, has a couple of dings but those should hammer out. I checked the threads on the lower support where the flywheel housing and starter plate bolts up, and the threads are in great shape, but 5/16-18 instead of the 5/16-24 I am used to there. They look good, and do not look cross threaded or damaged. Parts book shows those as 5/16-24, has anyone else run across 5/16-18 in that location? The square captive nuts look original and not tampered with.
