Default Model A pickup

I am starting on a 31 A pickup with a model T box on it. The rear leaf spring goes into the box bed and needs to have a hole in the pickup bed. Has anyone taken out the leaf spring assembly and replaced it with leaf springs and shackles like shoe boxes have? I am not after purity just doing a jalopy pickup.

You could easily take a few leaves out of your spring to soften the ride a bit. Leave the top leaf in place as it conforms to the crossmember.

Hi Jim. I took 2 leafs out of my rear springs and fitted modern shockers. It was still a hard ride so I removed the shocks. A little easier on the ride but still hard.
Is it possible to get a softer ride? One piece of advise I have had is to install Model T springs. yes that may well work but can I simply remove even more rear springs. I have never had the occasion to carry more than 2 cwt and even that is rear.
