Intake manifold
I am looking for an intake manifold for a y block that is out of a Tee Bird or truck engine that has the baffle in the valley pan so I can put on a pcv valve

Re: Intake manifold
If you want to add a PCV then you need the valley pan, not the intake manifold

Re: Intake manifold
The easiest way out is to find in a salvage yard a 61-64 292CI F-SERIES with the PCV SETUP and take everything.
What year FYB are you upgrading and 2V or 4V?

Re: Intake manifold
Finding a Y-block valley pan in an auto-salvage yard will be like searching for the proverbial "needle in a haystack." Unless you know of a yard that specializes in classic/antique cars, they don't hold onto cars for very long. What isn't stripped and sold, goes to the crusher. I see Y-block valley pans on Craigslist and ebay from time to time. Also check this forum's "For Sale" section, as well as on y-blocksforever.com. If you are not registered on y-blocksforever.com, go to eatonbalancing.com, send an email to Ted Eaton, and he will talk you through the y-blocksforever.com registration process.

Look at most any farm and you will see unused abandoned equipment. If that fails - CASCO offers a conversion service for earlier pans.

Re: Intake manifold
Habusailor, on 2-22-22, a 1955-57 valley pan/cover was posted "For Sale" on the VTCI forum. The seller is asking $45. The ad is still up, but I don't know if the valley pan/cover is still available.

Re: Intake manifold
Here's one for a 2V setup (includes adapter) -
http://www.2040-parts.com/ford-292-m...-pan--i602869/ EDIT - Actually, there is just one pan style (several versions released) for later ROAD DRAFT and/or PCV and PCV conversion). The pan style was introduced on the 1955 BIRD. FORD retained the closed style until the 1957 E-CODE and then 1958/ model runs. The one shown above has the attaching parts for a 2V PCV SYSTEM. And here - https://truckcapnew.com/ford_y_block...1955_1957.html

Re: Intake manifold
All bird valley covers can be used with modifications to the tube or a grommet. I do not know the PVC valve #for the grommet style. Any 61-64 car or pickup can be used with the stock hose connection. The correct PVC valve screwed into a fitting on the base of the carb on in a hose like above illustration for a truck shows. The # today that works is V100. The are stock for a lot of manufacturers.
It you use a grommet in any of them you must seal or put a screw into the threaded hole in the panel welded below or the valve you use there will suck oil into it. There are manufacturers now making valley covers which accept the system and Blue Thunder is now making aluminum rocker covers that have the ability to have a breather or PCV system on top if you want to look like a SBC… |
