Default Electric fan for a flattie

Hi fellas, I'm sure this is old stuff but there isn't an index to look up on. I'm installing a Jamco power steering kit and putting the pump where the present fan is. What electric fans work best? Car is a 49 Ford,286" flattie and a 4 row Walker radiator and a/c. All stays cool unless stuck in traffic on a 90* day. Thanks ,Walt

I am using a "puller" style 12v fan from Johnny Law's in Washington. Works great behind my Walker 4 row on my 1934.

I've used a 16" Spal in my flathead-powered '32 for 7 years with no problems, and will probably use one in my BBF powered '40 because of their durability and thin profile, but may also consider fans from Cooling Components and Derale.

Not sure how much room you have in front of your '49 radiator but I use a Spal pusher on my '35 and it fits neatly between the grill and the radiator. totally un-noticeable and works great. Put your thermostat control sensor inside your hot water system. Mine I slid into the radiator hose where it connects to the radiator after leaving the head on the passenger side. I tried to mount it to the outside of the radiator initially and got poor results (couldn't adjustment right, wouldn't turn off or wouldn't go on soon enough). Works great if placed inside the cooling system some where before the water / coolant is cooled.
