Default Dual carbs with Gen/Alt stock location

I would like to run dual carbs and a generator in the stock location on my 36 5W
I think the Edmunds intake with the carbs set rearward are the only option.
I could run an alternator.
What types of dual intakes would work with 2 carbs and the alternator in the stock location?
Im hoping you guys can tell me what brands and styles of intakes I can consider using.
Thanks

I have a 2 97s Fenton on my 8BA. I'm running a Powergen Shorty.
I shaved about 3/16 off the back cover and it fits fine.

This is a prewar Thickstun using a 1939 generator with a fan mount. Used a single belt with no modifications needed but a shorter fan belt was used to lower the generator.

I recently posted this picture. But it shows how dual carbs and stock generator (although the one in the photo is one of Whitney's alternator conversions) can fit behind the tightest early Ford ('34 pickup) engine bay. The manifold is an Edlebrock "Regular". They haven't been made in a long while but can still be found if searched for. Single fan belt and stock steel fan.

There are lots of them. Almost every manufacturer offered a two-carb intake that used the stock mounted generator. The "Super" two-carb style moved the generator off to the side and moved the carbs further apart which produced more power. The Super two-carbs and three-carbs were for the serious hot rodders.

The tall Pre-WAR manifolds with the carbs close together set the roadster dry lake records before the War. The tall intakes were gone from the dry lakebed when the racing started up again in 1946. They were replaced by the low super two-carbs. I think the three-carbs started in 1949. I could be wrong about the three-carbs in 1949, I have to go dig through my catalogs.

I have Eddie Myer and Thickstun PM7, 2x2 high rise intakes, that will both allow the use of an original size generator, or a Whitney alternator inside an original generator.

I have these 4” risers ordered and i think these will lift the carbs above the generator.
This might open up options for different intakes. Ones that are more centered.
Does that make sense?

First of all, with respect to a flathead, it's the most money you'll ever spend to go slow. A stock flathead will only flow so much air so no matter what you do with carbs and intakes. Nevertheless, there are some things you can do that are better than others although the differences between them aren't going to turn a stately flathead into a Pro-Street burnout machine. In the end, we have to admit to ourselves that it's as much about looks as performance, otherwise the first step would be to replace the flathead with a small block Chevy.

That said, I have dual carbs and love it!

1. It is inefficient to have the carbs unevenly spaced.

2. It's not that big a modification to move the generator to the side.

3. The only way to have dual carbs evenly spaced with the stock generator location is to have a high rise intake.

4. According to a leading flathead authority, the late John W. Lawson, in his book Flathead Facts, flatheads like risers that move the carbs up.

5. Some high rise intakes are better than others. See this Hot Rod magazine flathead intake smack-down.

I have an Eddie Meyer hi-rise with two 81s and a generator on my 1941 11A. (Essentially the same engine as a 1940 engine.)

If you didn't buy the manifold yet, an Edmunds is going to be around $400.

If you look around, you should be able to find used Thickstun PM-7's or Edlebrock Slingshot repops for around the same price.

Here is a Slingshot.
