The B6A-9510-R carb may have an Autolite tag on in, but is actuall a Holley/Ford 2110 model Ford/Holley carb. A later version of the Holley 94 used since 1939.
Youre's is probably a service carb since it had the tag on it, and was originally made for a '56 Ford car 272, with an automatice choke. After looking at your pictures, it's missing the entire auto choke housing assembly on the drive's side of the carb. I shoild have those parts, and there's a screw jammed in the vacuum channel for the choke piston on your carb.
I have some '56 Ford two barrel carb and choke parts if you want to go with the auto choke. That carb was the first auto choke two barrel on a Ford.
For the choke to operate correctly it needs a hot air heat tube to the choke housing, or an electric heated choke thermostat cap (if you car is converted to 12 volts).
It's also a larger carb (air flow) than was original on a '52 Flathead V8.
You may be better off finding a Holley 94 for a '52 or '53 (EAB model) V8 and use the manual choke.

Passenger side fuel bowl says: "Ford USA"
Drivers side fuel bowl : "MODEL EC" inside a circle.

Sal,
Thank you for solving this mystery. I have to think about this all before deciding what to do. JP

Thanks also for all the good advice from everyone. I bought 4 Fram filters cuz there appears to be lots of loose crud in the tank and lines. The original lines were leaking and collapsed while being removed. JP

Clean out that tank before doing anything else.

On the bowl cover on the other side of the carb it probably says ECG6, or some of those figures. The model name is ECG6, and also had larger throttle bores than the '55 carbs (ECG5).

I'll have to agree with scicala. the carb is unquestionable a 1956 Ford ECG style carb, made by Holley (Holley 2110). The linkage on the passenger side is unmistakable and only used that one year. I noticed someone has removed the automatic choke housing from the opposite side of the carb, ('56 was the first year for automatic choke on Ford 2-bbl carbs). That is why there is no manual choke bracket (because this carb never had one).
The Holley 2110 has larger venturi's than the original 8BA or later EAB flathead carburators had as well as the '54/55 Ford Y-block EBU carb (all of these had manual choke).
You may be able to find a bad carb for parts on e-pay that you can cannibalize for the auto-choke, but if it were my car, I would try to get a carb that was used on a flathead with dashpot bracket and manual choke bracket. Rebuild kits for these are all the same kit and you may encounter 8BA's and EAB's on epay occasionally.

Dave, is the linkage on the pass side from a Fordomatic 56? Can you tell which parts are 56 and which is 52?

Check the cork glass bowl gasket, if it is cracked and leaks air, it will cause fuel starvation to the carb.

I have a feeling that the cork is shot or missing. It did not drop down when I took off the bowl to clean it. It is behind the oil filter housing and difficult to feel. There was no screen either. I have to remove the pump to inspect it. I want to be sure it is sealed before I install the electric pump.

Your carburetor is not the glass bowl type, those are single barrel carburetors on six cylinder engines.

Going with Paul2748's advice, what is the best way to clean out a gas tank?

according to my records, your car should have a Holley 94 model EAB carburetor. I have started rebuilding these carbs as a sort of a hobby. I have a core for that carb if you decide to install the right one.
