Would a '40 style crank hub that mounts the fan to it work?

Either way, it looks like you are going to need to trim the blades of the fan.

very interesting "side by side" configuration. Looks like this would allow for the stock generator to remain in stock position. Only problem, the damn thing is over $900!!!

Neat piece for sure. The linkage can be bought for another $200 from Stromberg as well.

Powermaster has a "shorty" gen for this application:

I have an Edmunds "dual" that has the carbs set back, and it clears the stock generator just fine. On my 8BA, I use 8RT pumps, so the belt to drive the generator is about 2" forward of other pumps.

FYI: There is a guy in Wisc. that makes nice looking risers in different heights that he sells on EBay. I'm using 1" high risers on my Offenhauser Regular Dual manifold. They made the linkage line up better.

Slingshot is my all around favorite, very good reviews, they are hard to find currently. Tis pic was in my early mock-up stage without gennie.
PM-7 has the best appearance IMO.

Hey Tim.... Not quite! Heard and I came-up with this rig to put a mechanical fan on the front of an 8BA in his '36 3-window. Click the link BELOW for the original thread with more pictures.

That's neat, but could probably stand to have a cross-over tube added between the two sides.

Powermaster has made new alternator that have cast iron ends and is made for fan use.
Both short and regular ones , even fake cut off box on top of that thing. Will be available during this winter. Looks great to my opinion. I bet its not cheap , but nothing is nowadays !

I built an engine similar to this one back in the 90's, customer was interested in aesthetics and good gas mileage. The block he brought me was a Merc with 4" crank. He wanted the bore to be 3 5/16 and stock style 4 ring pistons, which were available back then. ( Had a set of 3 3/5X4 1/8 in my 296). So that was it the engine went back to hin with a set of Edelbrock heads and the original intake. I ran it on my Dyno and it produced alittle ove 120HP
About a year lathe he showed up at my shop with a beautiful 46/8 woodie, and it sounded great. Opening the hood he showed me the engine, at close look i saw a load a matic distributor on the engine hooked up to the carb behind the generator. It was a 2 duce intake and another 94 was there. He told me the real carb was just a mockup. no gas, no throttle blades and a lookoff plate under the carm. We took a trip into town for lunch and he bought gas, checked the mileage and informed me he was getting 24 mph with a Mitchel OD. To say I was impressed. The work I did was under a grand. He was one smart SOb/ Learn sompin every day, till they throw dirt on ya.

I run 3 2bbl on my truck with an alternator turned backwards and a home made mount, in the stock location. I think I need to put in a diode to make it charge turning backwards.
