Default Opinions of Hidum welt??

Noticed two kinds of hidum/moldings for leather trim on roofs. One call Hidum with two center beads and one crown molding where one bead folds onto the other.

Your experience with each, ability to make clean corners and a good seal

The fold over you describe is known as Wire-on. It was used on convertible tops for many years. The beauty of it is that it is easy to apply sealer over the tacks and then fold it over to hide.

I am aware of the ‘hidem’ welt (bottom pix) provided by the kit companies and the catalog vendors. However, on close examination of vehicles finished by private concerns, I notice a variation of the welt which i believe csporty calls 'wire on' (top pix) .... is Bratton's #29450 the equivalent for the wire-on? If not, are there other commercial sources?

Any opinions as to 'correct' application of each style? (Bratton states Hidem for 28-m30 CCPU)

Snyder's catalog lists wire-on welting p/n A-47304 as used on any year. It lists hidem p/n A-47305 as used on 28, 29 CC truck, Panel Delivery, AA Panel Delivery, and on 31 Special Delivery. It is also used on Model T's

Wire-on or Hidem welting is still in use today, It should be available at any Auto upholstery warehouse or any auto trim shop.
