Default 23T engine removal

All disconnected to remove the engine for magneto ring R&R. Question about the radius rod connection at the crankcase. I have it disconnected, but it is still "there". Seems like it will still interfere with the engine removal. Will it flex enough to clear once I start removing the engine? Also, one of the steps is to remove the hood shelves. What purpose does this serve? Thanks

You may have to force the wishbone down to slide the engine forward. You need to remove the hood shelves to slide the engine forward when you slide the engine forward under the firewall.

I back off the perch nuts and let it hang down. Will make it easier to reinstall the engine too.
