1940 Trunk Layout
Well I hope someone can help with my dilemma. This is probably a strange one.
The trunk lid on my 40 has been decked. All the holes filled. You can see on the inside were the latch fits a patch has been welded in and primered over. I am trying to figure out how I could return to normal. My thoughts are if I had a template to locate the exterior hole location I could use that to locate the handle (repo) then cut out and fabricate new mounting for the latch inside. Can't find anything to show me how the inside should look. Any thoughts, suggestions or a lid you could make a template from. Anything short of find a new trunk lid. Cy |

Re: 1940 Trunk Layout
Call Dennis Carpenter (RIP) folks and ask them if they will send you a template using one of the 40 coupe trunk lids they sell. Tell them you would be willing to pay a fee for their time and effort. Bob Drake might be able to help also. And then there's the possibility of someone on HAMB or Fordbarn making you a template. Several folks are still restoring them on HAMB. Personal phone call works better than just a one shot email. For instance,

Re: 1940 Trunk Layout
Trying to drill through welded up holes can be a serious challenge.
