Could be. Of all the 57's I, my brother and a friend had, I don't remember having one with a padded dash.

SAFETY PACKAGE and/or HI-TRIM LEVEL?

Ford also offered a post-production padded dash kit for the '56s. I know it was also a factory option too. I used to have the Part # and a list of all the pieces it included. Will have to looks for it. My parts car had a padded dashboard.

Now is the parts car a '56 or '57?

If you can find the kit PN (56 ACCESSORY) and post it within this thread, it will be greatly appreciated ...

OK, finally found it in the 1957 FORD SALES BROCHURE -

Other Available Equipment

Lifeguard padded instrument panel and cushioned sun visors -

I bought a 57 DEL RIO once. I cannot remember if it had one or not. It was fully trimmed. I shook it as the floor pans were gone.

'Ya know... I learn something new (or shake a few cobwebs loose) everyday here ...

The parts car was a '56 hardtop, almost exactly as the one in my avatar. Old memory, I thought it all came in one kit but the pad was separate from the install kit. NOTE the ashtray is different but is included with the kit. I don't see a listing in my parts book for a '57 pad.

Hmm ...

You have the earlier CHASSIS CATALOG and it has been removed. Doesn't sound good. Was the catalog an original or a reprint?

My FINAL ISSUE (CD) only shows the instrument panel ILL and TXT only, no pad or mldgs info.

PHOTOBUCKET is holding the photo hostage in my browser anyways.

... looking up parts long? (THIS STATEMENT REFERS TO ME ONLY)

Seems it is just like PREGO, it's in there somewhere ...

It was under 1957 FORD SOFT TRIM. No ILL I could find but here it is -

The INSTALL KIT (BASIC PN 04200) gives the trim molding PN's and ATTACHING PARTS.

Not sure but I think my book is original, I didn't check the date. I've had in nearly as long as I've had my '56 (bought in 1968). I don't like how PhotoBucket changed how they share photos. I'm about ready to find another hosting source.

If you or anyone else cannot read the photo I posted, LMK and I will transcribe the entire thing.

I looked at one on EvilBay and it showed a print date of SEP 1956. If yours is the same, it may not have had all 1957 PARTS LISTINGS printed to that point (they would come out in a later quarter printing).

If you go to 1957 SOFT TRIM, is BPN 04200 - 04290 listed for a 57?
