definitly southern
31 pickup...while changing the front shackles and bushings today I had the spring out and decided to clean under the cross member. there was a combination of red dust and motor oil about 1/4" deep most everywhere. I had to use my air chisel with the pressure turned down and a thin blade to knock this stuff off it was like concrete. it got me to thinking and remembering a while back. I live in the lower n.c. mountains and most of our county roads weren't paved until the 50's or 60's. I can remember dust clouds on the old unpaved roads in the hot dry days of summer. red clay is almost as notorious as cudzu in the south east. in its working days this old truck probably traveled many miles in these dust clouds with the crossmember wet with oil and gathering dust and building up layers. I say this is definitely a southern truck.
