Re: Wanted wood for '29 Briggs 155B
Mine is a 1930 Briggs 155 town Sedan so it's a little different. The complete wood in kit form will cast about four thousand dollars.Top wood, $900 +, Bottom wood , about the same , body wood (All the pcs in between), I think it's about $1500, and 4 doors, another $500. Anything you can duplicate yourself will be a big savings. So far, I've made a lot of the body wood myself. I've finished one door myself. I hope you haven't discarded your old wood because you'll need it for patterns. The original was Ash, but any type of hard wood can be used, Except oak, I don't know why, Oak is not good in cars. Some old pallet wood is fine. In may car I did find Maple and even Walnut. But my princible replacement is Ash.
Ford worked pretty close for wood. If you decide to try it, I'd recomend buying a old vernier caliper and duplicating exact sizes. You need a good table saw and a belt sander.( Belts from Royce sales in Canada) And a medium to large drill press. I would also reccomend one of the vibrating saws . Drill all your screw holes for both machine and wood screws. Don't srew anything together until your sure it , and the pcs that attach to it fit correctly. I'm giving mine a couple of coats of ureathane before instaing. If nothing else, This should prevent the wood from swelling and shrinking during wet and dry periods. Good Luck! Terry |

You can buy the kits from Oldfordwood.com, Brattons, and there are guys in North Carolina and I believe, Idaho. The wood Brattons sells comes from the guy in N.C.
I bought My Top and Bottom kit from walt Bratton. It;'s nicely done. Terry |
