H C Head for B engine
I have looked in Snyder catalogue and find no H C head for B engine .So I assume you have to use a model A H C head and change to a model A water pump . Your input on this would be appreciated .
Thanks |

Re: H C Head for B engine
For my 5.9 Brumfield head on my B engine,I tapped the 2 small coolant holes on both sides of center stud and plugged them with 1/8" pipe thread socket head plugs.I tapped the holes until the plugs were just above the deck when tight, and then filed them leveland filledthe hex holes with J-B weld& & filed them flat.I used the Fel-Pro 7013-C gasket. The 5.5 Snyder head may take a different gasket.Mine has been fine for the last 14,000 miles.

Re: H C Head for B engine
There is no aftermarket HC head offered for the Model B engine BUT, if you are using it in a 32 up car or truck, you can use a Model A head and Charlie Yapp makes adapters to use the B pump and block off the A outlet. Not like having a correct head but, it would work. I don't know about on a 33-34 vehicle but it would work on a 32 or any straight radiator car/truck.
Now, if you use it in an A, just plug the two steam holes like Columbia says, generally with 5/16 allen bolts, and install it like any A head. Other than these 2 holes, the B block is just like the A deck.

I think the Charlie Yapp adapter you are thinking about is the one to adapting the V8 pump (http://www.secretsofspeed.com/V8-ADAPTER.htm) to a Model A head. The problem with the V8 pump is that it does not have a provision to mount a fan. The Model A type head and pump should work fine in a 1932 vehicle. The Model A head and pump would be too long for a 1933-34 vehicle. Charlie Stephens |

Re: H C Head for B engine
I got a Lion Head from Charlie Yapp, an adaptor and V8 water pump from H&H which has a modern seal (NO leaks) and also has no place for a fan, but with my Walker Rad it never needed a fan, never ran hot in the Florida sun and then on to St.Thomas,VI with sun and mountains. Iceman

Re: H C Head for B engine
I plug the 4 little holes that are basically down the center-line of the engine. They must be slush to support the gasket.
