A thinking mans fix, field expedience I think they call it. No one went back to dealer after warranty in rural area in those days unless it was serious. Great looking car.

As a kid who worked on a small farm growing up, I used bailing wire to fix a ton of stuff. To help keep a carb from sticking wide open wouldn't be one of them.

If you want to keep the wire, run it through the coils of the spring like a safety cable used on garage door springs.

I can remember my Gpa acetylene welding a crack in the front fender of his '40 Ford pickup and you guessed it-using baling wire!!

An L shaped bracket with a spring fastened to an intake bolt worked for me. Looks nice too.
