Drop Spindles
I have a 53 Meteor and would like to drop the front end 2". I have looked at cutting the springs, clamping the springs, but do not like eithr option. Does anyone have access to information on 2" or so drop spindles for 52 thru 54 fords or meteors? Stan Walker [email protected] Thanks

Re: Drop Spindles
try ford aerostar front coils, no cutting and should give you the drop you want without hurting ride quality.

You might check out JAMCO.

Re: Drop Spindles
I have a 53 Customline. I went the 1990 Aerostar coil route and it gave me about 2 to 2 1/2 inches of drop. Very easy to install and very inexpensive, $60 or so from www.rockauto.com

Re: Drop Spindles
JT,
I saw your post on the HAMB. I like the drop. Did you need any special tools to make the spring change? I have a 53 Courier that I may want to drop using the Aerostar springs. Is it as simple as getting the car on jack stands and using a floor jack to support the A frame? |

Re: Drop Spindles
No special tools, it was actually easier than I had read. Just jacked it up removed the bolts, pop the old springs out, put new springs in and bolt it back up. And if you don't like the drop height just wait til you drive it around for a bit. Once the springs settled after about a week I had another 1/2" or so of drop. Looks really good and has a perfect rake with the 4" blocks I installed in the rear.
