Hot Rod Lincoln:

"That story is true I'm here to say
I was drivin' that model A."

That a Model A body makes it look like a pup
It's got eight cylinders and uses 'em all
Got overdrive, just won't stall.

Heartbreak Ridge:

Model A Ford and a tank full of gas............

Lyrics to HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE

Henry's Made a Lady out of Lizzie

The lyrics and cover of the sheet music for “Henry’s Made a Lady out of Lizzie,” Walter O’Keefe’s 1928 song about Ford’s new Model A, a stylish car that replaced the reliable but outdated and unattractive “Tin Lizzie,” the Model T.

Henry's Made A Lady Out of Lizzie

by Walter O'Keefe

Have you seen her, Ain't she great?
She's something you'll appreciate,
I'm sure you understand just what I mean,
Ev'ry body, Every where, is falling for her now,
I'm talking bout the new Ford and boy it's sure a wow!
When you see her, You'll agree,
She's just the one for you and me,
She's everything that any one could ask,
"Sittin' pretty yes I am, With her I'm always found
You "oughtta" see her Chassis, it's sure the best around.

Talk of this and talk of that,
Boys you must take off your hat,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
Has she plenty, has she much?
Got the "tin" you love to touch,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
They used to park her in a lot,
For that they charged two bits,
But now they charge you nothing,
And you park her at the Ritz.
She once had rattles in her wheel,
But now she's full of "sex appeal"
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!

She's like all the other vamps,
Pretty shape and lovely lamps,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
Since she's taken on some weight,
Honest, folks, she's looking great,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
Her dashboard has a clock,
That's a hit with all the Scotch,
A Scotchman saw the clock,
And promptly stopped his watch.
You've all heard the Frenchman song,
Fifty million cant be wrong,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!

Just a girl who knows her stuff,
Plenty fast but never rough,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
Always tidy, always clean,
Faithful as an old Marine,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
She's not the kind who tries to get
Your money all at once,
She only wants ten dollars down,
The rest in fourteen months,
Good for sister, nice for ma,
Ev'rybody rides but Pa,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!

Ev'ry groom and blushing bride,
Now enjoy their buggy ride,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
No one curses, no one swears,
Lizzie never needs repairs,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
She used to kick and jump around,
On ev'ry trolley track,
But now she's very ladylike,
And never answers back.
She will surely catch your eye,
You know salesmen never lie,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!

No more chug chug chug chug-bang!
No more cuss words, no more slang,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
Not the noisy flapper kind,
Simply quiet and refined,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
They used to say "We own a car,
It looks like one I mean"
But now they say, "I'll have you know,
We own a Ford machine"
No more playing Jack and Jill,
No more tumbling down the hill,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!

When she's coming down the street,
All the boys say "Ain't she sweet"?
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
Every man will go for her,
She's the kind that men prefer,
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!
Why even Thomas Edison,
The wizard that he is,
Could not resist her charms,
And was the first to take out "Liz"
He said "She's Okay to me,
All she needs is company"
HENRY'S MADE A LADY OUT OF LIZZIE!

"The Little Old Ford, it Rambled Right Along"

Model T song, not A.

Hot Rod Lincoln...original had 16 cylinders. Commander Cody sang 8 cylinders.

we all know that popular culture back then was very brutal on nationalities, minorities, etc. so here is one related song based on his recantation of anti-Semitism:

Since Henry Ford Apologized To Me

One of our Model A'ers did a song once and it was for sale in both The Restorer and Model A News about 25 years ago (or more)...I have it but can not find it among the other 1600 45's that I have.

I think his name is Marshall V. Daut.

What the hell am I going to do with all those 45's?

"Since Lizzie Changed her Name to Baby Lincoln - The New Ford Song" by Larry Shay (1927)

According to the Lodi Sentinal: “Every one of the 10,200 authorized Ford dealers in the United States has received a copy of the New Ford Song entitled 'Since Lizzie Changed Her Name To Baby Lincoln.' If the Ford dealers do their part in handing out the song and if every person curious to inspect the new Ford gets to singing about it the music publisher's presses will be put to strain, to say nothing of the ears of the public. This is a new way of capitalizing the joke interest in Fords which started out to be in derision and which has turned out to be an asset worth many millions, proving again that one of the best things man can have is ability to take a joke." (28 January 1928)

The Henry Ford has also published a 6 page document titled: "Ford and Model T Songs Collection 1910-1939". Here is the link to it: http://www.dalnet.lib.mi.us/henryfor...cession163.pdf

Fordially,
Brad in Maryland

Hmmm...I wonder if Tom means me??? The song was entitled "Out Behind the Barn" and was written for the 1976 MAFCA National Convention theme song contest. It and a song written by Ellen Flood ("Miss Model A"?) were selected by the song committee and put on a 45 RPM record, which as Tom says, was sold by MAFCA for a couple years. I wasn't aware that MARC also sold it.
For those unfamiliar with the song, here are the first and second verses, followed by the chorus. Think of a bouncy tune while reading the words.
Out behind the barn on a neighbor's farm,
Nestled under two trees, sheltered from harm;
There sat a rusty old Model A Ford,
Looking sad, but it could still be restored.
Her top was sagging, but the body was fair;
I knew all she needed was some tender care.
I bartered and I dickered with the farmer all day,
Until I heard him say:
Take that Ford - away - just get it out of my sight!
And wouldn't you know I towed it home - that - night?

The first time my wife laid eyes on it,
She started to cry and she threw a fit;
I knew right then I'd done something wrong,
But I looked her in the eye,
And said: "Aw, Honey, come one!
Just take a look in this picture book;
Some day, Honey, that's just how she'll look!"
But that didn't seem to calm her down,
As she said through her frown:
"Take that Ford - away - just get it out of my sight!"
And wouldn't you know I slept on the couch - that - night!

Chorus: I'm not the kind of guy,
Who likes to make wives cry;
But I'm not going to sell my Model A!

Well, you can guess where the story goes from there, restoring the car with my "wife" and ending up with the "restored Ford" at the MAFCA Convention in Nashville. I still get comments about that song from Model A guys from time to time. 'Nice that someone liked it!

'Sorry, Steve! I got my spurs tangled up and wrote my response to a non-existent "Tom" instead of rightfully to you. By the way, my 45 RPM record makes a GREAT frisbee! Probably the best use for it.

"A-Bone", by the Trashmen..

And one of my favorites, "Hot Rod Race", performed by Arkie Shibley.
