Default difference between 1936 and 1939 frames

wondering if someone could tell me what the difference between a 1936 frame and a 1939 frame is, if anything. thanks.

also are the body mount holes the same?

They are similar, Anything to do with brake mounting holes are different, rear transmission mounting holes are different, lots of little things.
A lot of people say they're interchangeable and they are with minor modifications.
If you're putting a 39 frame under a 36 and using 39 brakes an 39 rear trans mount it wouldn't be much of a problem.

.

And, depending on whether you have a LATE, or an EARLY '36 chassis, the rear frame horns differ between late and early, as seen in this crude drawing. DD

Serial Number? Don't laugh. If you get a DMV that goes by the book they may want to register the year of your car as determined by the serial number on the frame.

My 36 roadster is on a 39 frame. Installed the 36 front crossmember.

Thanks, didn't know this. also wondering about the two mounts on the back part of the frame on the sides, one is a rectangular box before the pickup and the other is a pad-like box that is narrow at one end then wider-are these the same from 35-39 and through 40? Also do pickups have these same mounts on their frames?

I won't stick my neck out there as far as those ancillary mounts are concerned and say that they are the SAME, 'cuz I ain't sure. But, the pick-up truck frames, although the same layout as car (per year model), DO NOT have those additional mounts. DD

Might be a difference in the radiator mounts?

okay, that's good to know about the pickup frame not having those mounts. Anyone else know about those mounts on the sides of the frame where the kickup begins and if they are the same on a 36-39 passenger car frame and possibly a 40 passenger car frame?

When I was building 35-40 chassis for customers I used the body mounts from Chassis Engineering on all car frames. P&J's is now making them.

I have a pair of '36 Roadster doors that I'd sell.
