Default Dual Exhaust Manifold 49-51

Who made these before Bob Drake? I have one from back in the late sixties or early seventies for a 49-51 with the crossover block off plate. It has raised lettering on the bottom side, near the front, ASP. Can anyone ID this? Could it be Ansen Speed Products? Ray

They were used from the factory on '52 & '53 police cars.

In answer to your question I made the manifold. I copied it from a Douglass Header manifold. It is my understanding that the manifold was produced by the Douglass Foundry for the Ford Motor Co. The manifold was made available for 49-51 Ford police cars. I had the manifold reverse engineered and made the pattern to make the casting. Then had it machined.

I also reproduce the 52-54 manifold similar to the one that Ford offered. Lastly, I produce a manifold for the passenger side to give the appearance of factory dual exhaust.

What does the ASP stand for? When did you produce them? I have had this one several years. Ray

Didn't trucks also have manifolds without the crossover?

Pat, you must be quite an engineer. Sounds like maybe a labor of love. How about a few pictures. John

Send me an email to [email protected] and will send you pictures. You can see the 49-51 on Shoebox Central website. They are a dealer for me. "Happy Thanksgiving"!
