Depending on the car it's going in.The clutch arm and the rear mount and of course going from a floor shift to a column shift means a column change . But to answer the question , yes it will bolt up. If it's going in a 34 there is a better choice like a 39 top loader.

In a 32 it requires building a new pedal bracket and reshaping both pedals. The bracket must move over for clearance for the shift linkage. You will have to redo completely the clutch linkage to the 40 style. The brake linkage and master cylinder mount will have to move over also.

from your 34 you will use the clutch arm, and the rear bearing retainer and mount. if you have a top shift, the lever will come thru the floor about an inch further back. thats it, but if its a 40 car trans with the 3 on the tree, your on your own from here!

Why would you want to do that?

opps, the shift tower will be forward a bit, not backward like i said before. 34 slants back, 39 top shift tower is straight up. easy swap

The 34 transmission is synchronized in 2nd & 3rd like the 39. None are sychronized in low gear.

The 39 synchronizer is a better design then the 34 synchronizer. No mater what year transmission you go to you can have problems unless a rebuild is done. Rebuilding your 34 transmission can result in good shifting. The 39 trans needs later top shift and shift lever the 39 clutch arm has to be changed to 34 and the transmission floor cover will need to be modified slightly to accommodate the 38-39 shift top.
