You guys out there in New England, join in at any point, beleive me you will never have so much fun with an old car as this. If your flathead isn't ready drive your everyday car it will still be fun.
Here some pictures of past tours. Chuck S.

Look's like a great cruise. A beautiful part of the country. If any have NOT gone to the LL Bean retail store-----you really should allow some time. I'm not a shopper, but when I first went in late one night, I stayed for hours. BTW, the store has no locks on the doors---it never closes.

Best of luck to everyone!

Hi all! I was snooping around today and saw this on the Fantasy Speedway website.

http://www.fantasyspeedway.me/schedule/

"Racing Schedule – ESSENTIAL & PRESSING INFO.
DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL, WE HAVE FOUND IT APPROPRIATE TO CANCEL OUR AUGUST 26th RACE DATE ! "

We were scheduled to go there on Sunday, no?

I belong to the (Fanasty racing club) I got an E-mail this morning telling me thay had to cancel the Aug 26 race because they have 7 cars broke down with engine or drive train trouble and don't have enough cars left to race. That made me feel real bad but nothing we can do about it. I think the Unity regular asphalt track is running Sat night. Walt

Yes the Fantasy Speedway situation is bad news. I fully understand what they are dealing with though. We're working on an alternative for Sunday afternoon. I will keep you all posted via the nesummerbash email.

Walt, I sent you an email this morning.

For sure this is totally understandable. They'd be happier driving their stuff rather than wrenching on it!

I have no doubt we'll find an alternative that will be just as memorable. Maybe we can even drop by and help/get in the way? At least we'd see the speedway. I don't know if any of the cars are housed there, likely not.

Copy/Paste from website, included for completeness.
We all know that Fantasy Speedway is doing something no one else is doing – sometimes that bites and things become difficult….

Vintage stock car racing is a part time hobby and personal lives sometimes must have priority over playing with toys. Therefore, we always have folks who can’t make a particular race day due to personal circumstances. Add the following to that routine circumstance, and our ability to provide you with a fun show can take a hit.

Over our last two race dates no fewer than SEVEN of our more consistent (seldom if ever missing a race date over three years) race cars have developed SERIOUS engine & mechanical problems (i.e. broken block, bearing failures, broken internals, etc.) None of us needed this, but it is what it is. All of these cars are repairable, although we are uncertain what that timeline looks like for each of these cars. Time is of the essence, but playing with 50 to 70 year old engines and drivelines can sometimes hamper our ability to secure repair parts on the day we need them. The needed parts are still available, but sometimes one has to hunt a bit. The out-of-pocket cost of these parts and machine work, as well as the time necessary to remove, rebuild, & replace vintage engines and major components also impacts our ability to get them back on line as quickly as we might wish. It is not a question of “if”; it is a question of “when”.

“When”, however, could impact our operation well into September, so check back here to see what’s happening as things develop.

Just wondering... Could/Should we inquire about parts needs? Maybe I have something sitting around that could be helpful.

Here's a suggestion... Why don't all the guys going on the New England Tour RACE... Now that would really make the trip memorable… I know you’ll all have fun, race or not. Sure wish I could have made up there. Oh well, maybe next year.

PLEASE,let me know if we ARE racing.... I'll have to drive a different car. Lets see, the 49 has 3 deuces, but it might loose the skirts on those turns.
The time is running out fast, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. We will leave NY before 5am Thursday, and if we don't hit any deer, should be there for Happy Hour.
Pictures will come, Chuck S.
