Rich, no sleeves. I've never had a sleeved engine overheat or give problems.

I did see the picture of one installed improperly and it really made a mess when the sleeve went down and the piston rings caught over the top of the sleeve.

My original Phaeton engine had .045 pistons, and I had to bore it out to .080, but it had been sitting without a head on for decades.

Maybe you can procure some .025 pistons and do as John suggested.

Tom, You said you will rigid hone the cylinders to get all 4 cylinders the same. I assume you are taking engine completely down? If you replace valves you might also replace valve seats. Is the engine equipped with adjustable lifters? You never know what kind of can of worms you will find from previous gearheads who have had their hands in the mix. Good luck!

I would never install valve seats unless it really needed them to repair a crack or very badly recessed original seats. My valves all set up enough, so I know they aren't badly recessed. I'll know more after I tear the engine completely down.

I had 2 valve seats (Exhaust 3&4) decide to take a hike this past summer. 600 miles from home!
