Default The Neatest Gas Station You Have Ever Seen

There are no Fords in the photo, but we thought that you would really enjoy seeing this neat filling station in Oklahoma City. Stop by and visit The Old Motor where we have three enlargements of it and all the details about the company.

Check in here to see your first fund raiser to help out The Larz Anderson Automobile Museum With an incredible gem of a car.

In those days they were called SERVICE STATIONS not GAS STATIONS.

Old Station in Spring City, Utah

Then style:

And now:

OK. My car is way too new for the station. Sorry, it's the oldest car I have.

Funny thing is - this station was originally built and run by an Anderson, just like the first picture posted.

T-head, indeed there are some real gems on that web site. I looked at them all. This was one of my favorites. Hard to tell it's a filling station (yeah, that's what they called them) unless you look close for the pumps.

I think this one was pretty neat because it belonged to my great uncle...Elmer Spatz. This was on Palm Ave in Alhambra, CA.

Here's Elmer...with his help sneaking into the picture...

And here is the same station in the 30's after an "update", now servicing Ford V-8's...

I went through Morrisville a couple a days ago, its not to far from me. I wonder if the house is still there.

Thumbs up Re: The Neatest Gas Station You Have Ever Seen

In 1954 the service station I worked at sent two guys to the gas island and did tire pressure, windshield, check oil and radiator etc. Do it all or lose your job. Ah for the good old days!

Plus you'd get S&H Green Stamps or Gold Strike saving stamps.

The best part of that first photo? The proprietors name, Ed Cheatham!

Sounds like the 'ol Three Stooges law firm, Dewy, Cheatham and Howe!

Ah, the good 'ol days. When the bumpers were polished chrome, a bottle of ice cold Coke was a dime, and air for your tires was FREE!
How do we go back there???

My Grandfather (on my mom's side) had a Sinclair "Fillin' Station" in Cleveland, Georgia on Rt. 115 when I was just a kid back in the '50's. I Googled and found this photo of the building, taken just prior to it being razed (some time in the '70's I think).
