I need recommendations for the best place with the best price for a new 94 carb for a '39 Standard. There is a fitting missing on mine where the hand throttle rod connects and I'm not sure I want to tackle a rebuild.

Recommendations please.

I imagine "Charlie ny" on this forum has the missing doo-dad, and one of his rebuilds is probably better and cheaper than what's available new these days.

You should talk to him.

Have you considered sending yours to an expert rebuilder? Would certainly be preferable than buying a new one made in China. There are new ones offered by Dennis Carpenter.

“Charley ny” and “scicala” on this forum. I’ve read posts where these guys recommend each other. I don’t think you’d go wrong with either one…… Mark

X5 for CharlieNY and he will run it on his test engine to make sure everything is right before returning it to you.

Yes, as others have advised, send it to charlie. The new manufactured ones are a crap shoot as to weather you get a good one or a bad one. Dont waste your money on one. Have your original repaired by charlie. Regards, Kevin.

I'd like to make a distinction here between poor products and those those vendors that they may be purchased from. If a vendor doesn't carry what the public wants to buy, he won't have many products to sell. Sometimes it takes a very long time for word to spread about a bad product, but a good businessman will continue to offer it to those that haven't gotten the word.

Within the last three years or so, I had the Stromberg 97 rebuilt on the ‘36 engine in my ’34 Ford, and my other Stromberg 97 rebuilt on my ’37 Ford. Both were done by Charley NY. In both cases all I needed to do is to install them, set the idle speed and go. I highly recommend this guy. He was fast and his prices were reasonable.

Just in case it is not already ABUNDANTLY CLEAR for you........EVEN on a somewhat "panic-ed" Saturday morning on potential screw up.....CharlieNY was there!!!!! WHY anyone would consider new, when Charlie does the work that he does........can only be chalked up to being new and a "junior" member status here on the "Barn". You will NOT be disappointed in the least or have ANY concerns on sending this to Charlie......IF you do "I" will give you your money back!!!!!!

I live 1 mi from Charlie ny Been to his shop many times ....usually in need of something. Always cheerfully helped me out
