Default will this oil pan fit my 37' chassis?

This the pan that came on my new motor, 53' 8ba. will it fit my 37' chassis? If not, what do I need to look for?

The sump on that pan will probably interfere with your drag link. Your best bet is a Mercury pan. The sump is towards the rear or the pan. You will also need the Mercury oil pump pick up tube.

The 1949 thru early 51 Mercury pan is the most adaptable for the early cars as well as the half bell with the starter plate that bolts to the bottom of the pan on the three studs there holding it sturdy. I think the late 51 set up omitted the studs for the bell support since it went cast iron. The next option is the rear sump pickup/truck pan with or without the clean out. The truck pan is possibly a little deeper and has a different rear reinforcement panel for the starter plate & bellhousing support but has been used by many rodders & engine swappers wanting the clean out feature.
