Default 6.00x16 Tire Usage

In what years did Ford use 6.00x16 as the standard tire size for cars and light trucks?

Also for the '42-'46 car models. I don't have my V8 Club book handy to check further.

Might be wrong. have been mistaken a few times. As I recall, the '35 and later through '47-48 were all 600 x 16, cars and light pickups. A tire option was 650 x 16 and staring in mid 1936 the Standard model '36 an '37's had 550 x 16 tires on a 3.5 inch wheel. The '37 through '40 V8 60's reputedly had 550 x 16 tires on a 3.5 inch wheel.
In the real world I would doubt if the 550 x 16 was a common tire. Most people would opt for the more common 600 x 16 when it came to replacement time.

My uncle Ordered his new ‘49 Ford sedan with 6:00X16 tires so he could use the snow tires he still had from his ‘35 that he traded in for the new ‘49.
That was the only Ford car after 1948 that I ever saw with 16” wheels.
My 1951 F1 came standard with 650x16 tires. I changed to ‘72 F100 wheels which are 15”.

I have a cousin that is eight years older than I am. My cousin was a died in the wool Ford man, would not drive or own anything that was not Ford. For some unknown reason my cousin had a fixation with 600 x 16 tires. Up through the 1970's he insisted that the Ford dealer order a new F100 with 16" tires. My cousin still has his '66 F100 and '75 F100 with 16" 6 ply tires.
My cousin bought a new '64 Galaxcy 2dr, kept it until the 1980's, his wife was so tired of the car, it was actually in great shape, she went to the Ford dealer and traded the '64 in on a new Ford. She drove the new Ford home parked it in the garage, my cousin blew a gasket when he found out his wife had traded the 64 off. He went to the dealer and tried to by the car back.. It was gone.. The guys at the dealership were probably fighting over the '64.

I think at that time I would have seriously considered trading her in for a new model.
