Default Strange Cabin Heater

I just acquired this 1928 Tudor (A554910) from a neighbor six houses down the street...I didn't have to go far, did I now?

Anyhow, take a look at this cabin heater. Has anyone else seen anything like it?

Rich Dann

Yes it is! Don't chuck it! A guy I know has the door but not the heater. So without the heater the door is useless.

That's the first complete one I've ever seen.Ive seen the floor grates, and the manifold part, but I've never seen the intermediate piece.I think you could take that out in the warmer weather, and save it for next year.We all know what happens to the extra parts then.

Just when you think you may have seen every type of heater. I'll be looking out for something like that or just the parts. Interesting.

Since that looks like it was made from flat sheet metal it would be great to have the measurements. It would be a simple task to bend up new sheet metal pieces using my sheet metal brake.
If you do remove it I would like to have the simple length and widths of the pieces if possible. The floor grate looks simple too.

Very "cool" heater
Now how about some pictures of the rest of your new car.

I have the same floor grill on my 1928 Standard Roadster. My car is a one owner from Minnesota (I think that is how you spell it). She had a strange exhaust manifold but not the folded metalwork. When I asked parts suppliers they suggested buy a new exhaust manifold and a repro heater top, which I did.

If you ever decide to make a template of the folded top I would be interested in a copy please. To make an original style heater like yours.

Ok, so here is Velma, the car with the cool heater. I am the third owner and I just bought it. Its really complete and in relatively good shape.

Looking good and add some insulation and that heater will keep you nice and warm.

Again I ask, what is it about the South? You guys are always finding cars we'd never see in the Pacific Northwest.

Vince,
good to know that... I'm not up on all of the accessories. This car is one of two we are doing our annual Start up on June 11th. It's apretty cool heater setup that doesn't require that obtrusive invasive firewall hole. although I'll bet the floormat gets possibly cooked.

Here's last years start up video... cut and past if you need.

I have a friend who also has the floor door grill and it will be available at the swap meet in the MAFA meet in Loveland Co. this June.
