Default 55 ford engine and trans

Hello everyone, I have a dilema I am doing a 55 ford fairlane 2 dr. sedan
(club sedan) I have installed a fat man front clip complete and I"m wondering
if I have enough room to use a C-6 transmission without cutting the floor up
I also have an AOD which i understand is a little bigger than the C-4 but smaller than the C-6 any help would be appreciated. Thanks Carguy 01 I'm using either a 5.O. or a 289

Your going to use a C-6 with a 289? Seems like overkill to me. I'd use the AOD because it will give you OD. But even the C-4 should be more than strong enough.

No problem fitting the AOD,I have a 302 and AOD in my '54 Customline no mods needed it will sit right on the stock trans crossmember use an ANCHOR 2253 mount about $10 at Autozone.Be sure and get the Lokar T.V. cable real easy to use.You will need a 164 tooth flexplate with a 28 oz. balance for the AOD give these guys a call http://www.kmjent.com/ prices are good.AOD's from 1980-93 are non computer the best donors are 1988-93's with the improved lube mods and valve body.

I think I saw somewhere that the C6 was a tough fit in those cars but dont quote me on that. I would go with the AOD myself just because of the OD but its your car. Someone here must know if it fits.

If you use the 289 make sure it's a later block with 6 bolts for the bellhousing. Basically, a 1966.

This is a C4 mount used for about 20 years, ANCHOR is available at Autozone & O'Reillys and Rock Auto and many more.
