steering wheel orientation
The thread on the light switch orientation made me remember to ask. Is there a correct orientation for the steering wheel? x or t? Mine is neither, it's kind of in between. Also how do you change it?

Re: steering wheel orientation
Well, "kind of in between" is my vote...That's what mine is.

Re: steering wheel orientation
Preferred was X and Ford gave instructions in the Service Bulletins for the keyed steering wheel which has two positions. If found in "T" (which can happen through wear or adjustment or damage) the wheel can be repositioned by removing and turning 30 degrees and putting on the "other" keyway.
The spline wheels can be turned similarly but you have a lot more choice of positioning. And this damage/wear/rebuilding issue one of the reasons for an aftermarket "adjustable" pitman arm tie rod. (which is available or can be made from parts.) Joe K

Re: steering wheel orientation
You would be surprised how true that is. I have also noticed that A's with juice brakes also have the steering wheel a little off.

Re: steering wheel orientation
And cars that have had the front axle pushed back a little (curled around the spring perch usually) don't allow the steering wheel proper alignment either.
AND this even with the wheels aligned. (The wheels are aligned but not side by each of each other.) Almost all axles seem to show this damage in greater or lesser degrees. Hard to find a straight one. Joe K

Re: steering wheel orientation
A steering wheel can be off enough to block line-of-sight to the speedometer. Quite annoying!

Re: steering wheel orientation
I believe that Joe is correct. X ... this way you can see the spark and throttle levers and through the wheel forward. That is what I read years ago.
