Default How do you fix e-brake that pops-off occasionally?

My emergency/hand brake occasionally releases itself with a slight snapping sound.

I assume this means I need a new pawl or a new ratchet gear?

Thanks.

The engaging teeth will wear. It has been my experience that carefull "dressing" of the gear teeth will often resolve the problem. Gar Williams
