Re: 35 cabriolet rumble lid to trunk
I’ve never done this conversion, but I have a 35 3W with a trunk. You will definitely need hinges and the driver side trunk prop.

Re: 35 cabriolet rumble lid to trunk
Why don't you just take the seat out then you'll basically have a trunk.

Re: 35 cabriolet rumble lid to trunk
Done it twice. You need the complete trunk hinges which now are hard to find. You need to extend the rain gutter sides and make the bottom one.The bottom lip of the opening for the lid is folded over .You need to pry it back. That is where the gutter will attach to.Making that gutter will be the toughest thing to make as well as the rounded corners.Add drain tubes at the corners for the rubber tubes. I found a donor coupe and had that whole gutter section.cut out and grafted to my 35 roadster and 36 coupe.Relocate the handle and latch striker(attaches to gutter like on top) to the other end.

Not that this helps with your questions, just trying to understand why. |

Re: 35 cabriolet rumble lid to trunk
The lid does not get turned around .Only the handle and latch is relocated to the bottom and the hole for the handle on top filled. The spare is retained in the same location.

Re: 35 cabriolet rumble lid to trunk
My '39 conv has a rumble seat, last year to have one. I had the trunk area, including the deck lid, completely upholstered to match the passenger interior, same leather. I do not have the seat cushions in the trunk, have ample trunk room and in a pinch I can put a foam cushion on the floor area which would provide seating, if needed.
From my point of view, the cost and effort to remove the rumble seat option would be a waste of money and effect the salability of the vehicle.

Re: 35 cabriolet rumble lid to trunk
Most of the after market parts catalogs have most of the parts you will need.
Speaking of removal, does anyone have a rumble seat and cushion that they want to sell? |
