Default strange crankshaft

I pulled apart a low mileage 99a engine, all standard, great rods, still on the standard size, std crank and bore (but a big crack in one),
It has this funny crankshaft ,with the clean out plugs on the outside of the crank, not one the side,
all the pistons have FORD Canada on them.
Any one seen one like it .

Well, no chance of it being a 4" Merc crank! It only has one oil hole per throw!

The Windsor, Ontario foundry did things differently than the Rouge. That may have been a Canadian wartime engine. This is where I still have a lot to learn about just what was different in the Canadian engines versus USA engines. Most all USA engines had the clean outs. That may have been a Canadian version. It lightened the crank and provided a last chance centrifugal filtering system for the con rod bearings. I also don't know of any aftermarket crankshafts but it might be possible.

I have a crank like that also , came in the first flathead I brought when just 15 & still have it. My engine would have been built in Canada I believe. It will get built this year but with a 4 1/8" crank, already have it cleaned & have sonic checked it. Has "19" cast into right front of block , factory relieved, 3 3/16 +.060 & bores are close to .157" thick everywhere I checked it. It will get bored to 3.375
Cheers
Tony

I have a Canadian-built 99 engine (keystone block, see my avatar) with the original crank. No such cleanouts on mine.

I think Kiwi has it,as the engine has ford canada pistons,is still standard bores they would be original you would think.
and most stuff here in Australia came from Canada.

Brian I have a couple of blocks with the oil passage coming across from just above the engine stay rod hole on the bell housing.
None drilled though.
I looked at the one on the engine I,m doing at the moment and tried to work out how to make it work with a filter,
I think that the rear main stayed in the circuit from the pump before the filter or cooler.
