He won't be your friend for long when he sees you put his phone number on the internet.

It's late at night and not too many people have seen this...edit out the phone#, the e-mail, and home address before too many weirdos see it.

boy do you guys on the west coast have a different mindset than those of us in the east! if i thought that ron would have minded, i wouldn't have posted the info to begin with. and yes, i have posted it before, all in an effort to try and help raise ron's spirits. any "wacko" adversity that may come from this, i know will be dealt with by ron in his good natured way.

It's clear that you mean well and feel this will be fun. However, your act is clearly done for yourself, not for Ron. You may have posted his contact information in the past, but that does not make it right. As others have already stated, you are setting Ron up for some pretty nasty headaches through your insensitive, immature act. If you view Ron as a friend, edit out the contact information, immediately.

Just some info for people that have not heard about harvesting bots and web spiders. Spammers use them to get email addresses from websites. It's why people that use craiglist encrypt their phone numbers. Like: Five5Five-1two 34

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address_harvesting

I enjoy everytime Ron post. Happy Birthday Ron!

Well thanks guys, but I don't think my friend George had any animosity in posting my vitials. George basicly gave me my start in the Flathead world as we know it today, I was a recovering alcoholic working in a body shop, when in walked this bearded fellow asking if anyone knew anything about Flatheads. That was the beginning of a great relationship. I put togerther a coupla engines for him and he suggested I write a book about them. And that as they say is history. Over the years I've trie to make up for some of my past transgressions, by helping people and if someone wants to call, email or whatever, to tell me I'm an ass h*, so be it, I try not to judge people and sometimes I can be kinda gruff, I mean well. Like that teacher you had in school that gave you a ration of SH** every once in awhile. I do my best to help. So don't be so hard on George, he's getting old too.

Ol' Ron,

Every year on my birthday (April 16th) I give you a Happy Birthday wish. I hold you responsible for sparking my interest and confidence in building flats. The name Ron Hollarand can be found on my book shelves. I appreciate yours and the others that contribute your time knowledge to help us less experienced.

Here are two I built with your books nearby. 8 more to go.

Have a Happy Birthday.

Ron, happy birthday! Your a great guy, and you live up to your ideals. Of all us long time Barner's, I think you are the only one who never, not once, ever pissed anyone off or offended them in any way. Your a true gentleman.

I was hacked once by someone located in the far east. It's crumby having to get everything, passwords, accounts etc. changed. Not to mention the telemarketing calls or additional junk mail.

Have a happy birthday Ron. I enjoy your posts and have your book. It is interesting, just this morning I was paging through the book as a reference and figured I should go though and read it again. Seems that I forget things faster than I can remember. Maybe I will have to do that this weekend.

Thanks again,

Neal

I can't believe all the earlier posts were made on this thread without any of them even wishing Ol' Ron a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Ron, I met you about 13 years ago at the York PA Street Rod Nationals and got an autographed copy of your book. You asked me if I ever posted on Fordbarn and at that time I had no idea what Fordbarn was about. When I got home I looked up the website and I have been here ever since. Thanks for telling me about this place. I've learned more here since then than I ever knew before about these Flatheads and the cars they powered. Thanks again and have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Also, a big thanks to George for reminding us.

Well thanks for the prase, but it's a two way street, I learn allot too. Someone asked when the truck was going to be back on the road. Well that's a problem. I posted a week ago that the blocked in an exhaust port and when we put water in it and started the engine, water came out the exhaust like a fire hose. I have two blocks up at the machine shop getting cleaned and Magged, waiting for the results.
Yes I like to drive Walt's Model A, but his daughter races me with here Lawn Mower.
However the 294 will be fired up pretty soon

If the George, Ron is talking about is, George Perry from up the street in VT, he has great respect for Ron. I see George at Hershey every year. This year I was fortunate enough to able to buy Ron's H&C ignition George had for sale for him. You heard it from Ron, he is fine with George's effort to honor his friend. Reminds me of, do you know how to spell assume, ass-out-of-you-and-me.

You are a neat guy and I am impressed that you straightened this thread out in your own fashion! Proves that only a buddy like you would know the good intentions of a great buddy like (George) the one who started this thread. Happy B-Day to you and don't change your grumpy assed ol' self one bit !
BTW...If you'd rather talk about cams...I'm good listener!!

Happy Birthday Ron! We met this past winter when I stopped up during one of the nastier snowstorms to buy an 8BA crank. Thank you for autographing my copy of 'Nostalgia' at the same time. The engine is still a project so nothing to report. Wishing you many Happy Birthdays yet to come. Dave

Ron: I am 1 year behind you and I started my experience with a 38 Ford 85hp V8. My high school auto mechs teacher advised me on how to pull the oil pan to replace the core plugs not too long after acquiring the car. Got the job done. Learned much about that car. I later acquired a 38 Ford Phaeton, which I restored from ground up. I recall painting the frame in the driveway and neighbor attempted to clean off the overspray with Amway - no good. Rain and sunshine took care of the overspray. In any event I have enjoyed giving attention to the Phaeton by constantly improving it and using the knowledge that I have acquiring from the contributors to Fordbarn, including you. Your posts are very informative and smooth. You are to be commended for your efforts and how you handle people. Best Wishes on your birthday and hope and trust that you will be able to continue long into the future.

Hi Ron; Happy birthday this coming Tuesday, the way this thread started it will still be going on your birthday. George, thanks for your post. Ron thanks for mentioning recovery, you know we're on the same path with it, and it's important folks know there's help and hope available. Since Walt mentioned a visit I guess we better get your VT to ME chauffeur off his az, when the weather warms, and get you up there for the cruise night and lawn racing. I'm lucky to know ya. All my best, Craig.

There was a saying I remember from my rebellious school days, "Them that can do, them that can't teach."You did it, and are doing it, Ol' Ron, and now you are also teaching the rest of us. Can't be any better than that! THANK YOU! and Happy Birthday! Larry

Hi Ron,
I was enjoying reading all of these posts about you and all the tributes coming your way that I completely forgot to add my own praise. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE HELP YOU HAVE GIVEN ME OVER THE YEARS!!! Also for not giving up on me when things wouldn't work out right. I think of you every time I start my truck up with Ol'Ron's old test motor powering my 39 truck. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Mine is coming right along on the 24th of this month perhaps I'll drive over the hill before that and say hi in person. Let me know if you need any parts my friend. Best wishes, Toby
