Welcome to the barn. Take a look at the forum jump below and try the hot rod forum. It will take you to the HAMB where there is a wealth of info. Short answer is no its not difficult, lots of variations, and it can bolt right up to a stock torque tube.

Re: help...info..input...4 banger to flathead v8 conversion
its not too bad,
i did a 37 flathead in my 30 model a... shorten the torque tube, fab motor mounts, trans mount, fab pedal brackets. install a f1 box.. split the whish bones. fabricate ebrake system.. hydraulic brakes.. or you cen go through snyders and get the bellhousing bracket to use the stock pedals on a v8 trans. thats a cool way to do it also. there is a link to my model a build on the hamb: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=772500 |

There are so many variables depending on what you want your finished product to be, but generally the swap isn't too bad. Definitely head over to the HAMB, these swaps have been covered thousands of times.

No you do not have to shorten the torque tube. Steering gear, motor mounts, clutch and brake pedals, maybe fire wall will rub. They are the biggest problems. Use a 39 transmission.

why not on this forum? check out the V8 side on what is talked about there. Juice brakes, T5 transmissions, bigger cams, headers , multiple carbs, the list goes on and on.

The v8 side is a lot more laid back but the hamb has a lot more info.
